Book Scanning

Our book scanning facilities incorporate the renowned Kirtas BookScan technology for the safe and rapid scanning of bound documents and books without the need for de-binding, trimming, labeling, and rebinding. Books of dimensions ranging from 4.5 x 7 to 11 x 14 inches, with paper thickness ranging from 13lb to 80lb (49 GSM to 120 GSM) can be accommodated using this facility.

As an established library bindery we can also offer the facility to scan books exceeding these specifications using the traditional de-binding and hand scanning techniques using our dedicated flat bed and large format scanners.

Digitisation

Book Scan Bureau digitises your documents into a raw image format which can be compressed using JPEG compression. Images can be saved in full-colour, grey-scale, or binary (black and white) formats according to your requirements.

We also provide the ability to process these scanned images into industry standard document formats such as Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word. These documents can be further compressed to suit on demand access, to save file space, and to aid rapid character searching and post processing.

Formats

We can provide your documents to you using a variety of mediums including: CD, DVD, microfilm, online FTP access, portable USB hard drive.

OCR

We provide the facility for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) processing of scanned documents using our integrated state-of-the-art image processing software to extract the text information from scanned images, making your documents fully text searchable.

Digital Reprint and Facsimile Rebinding

We offer a facsimile rebinding service to provide you with a hard copy reproduction of your scanned books and documents. Our digital print facilities enable high quality reproduction using a choice of paper types to suit your requirements, with a range of first grade cover materials from library buckram to full leather bindings.

We are the contact point for sales of the Kirtas BookScan APT 1200, and the newly released Kirtas BookScan APT Gold scanners in the UK and Europe, please contact us to arrange viewings, and quotations.

Large Format and Single Sheet Scanning

As well as books and bound document scanning we have the facilities to accommodate large format and single sheet scanning using our high-end flat bed scanners. As a specialist library bindery we are able to assure a quality service in the de binding and handling of your books

Environment, Storage and Packing

As a matter of course, all books are treated sympathetically and stored in a secure climate controlled, dust free environment. Ensuring your precious consignment is protected throughout the scanning process.

Collection and Delivery

More than anyone we understand the value of your books and the need for safety in transportation, packing and handling. We offer our own in-house courier service of experienced drivers who are dealing with collections from libraries and archives from around the country on a daily basis, providing an experienced, secure, and safe collection and delivery service.
